Busboys and Poets – Anacostia is hosting a community celebration that brings together two milestones in one night: Philip Pannell’s 75th birthday and the 20th anniversary of Busboys and Poets, marked by the release of founder Andy Shallal’s new memoir, A Seat at the Table: The Making of Busboys and Poets. The evening features a book launch and panel with Denise Rolark Barnes (The Washington Informer), Sam Ford, Kojo Nnamdi (WAMU 88.5), and Andrew Lightman (Capital Community News), plus a live performance by Washington Conservatory of Music’s Andrew Lee and karaoke hosted by Dwayne Lawson-Brown.
