Sept 29 | Celebrate Philip Pannell’s 76th Birthday and Community Impact

Longtime Ward 8 civic leader and community activist Philip Pannell will celebrate his 76th birthday with an evening of community, conversation, music and reflection on Tuesday, September 29, from 5 to 9 pm at Busboys and Poets Anacostia. The venue’s Anacostia location is at 2004 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE.

The celebration will include a special panel discussion from 6 to 7 pm featuring former DC Democratic National Committeemen Arrington Dixon, Vincent Orange, Jack Evans and Kevin Chavous Jr., moderated by veteran DC journalist Tom Sherwood. The program will also remember former DC Council Chairman and Democratic National Committeeman John Wilson.

Guests can also enjoy live music, conversation and karaoke, including performances by Washington Conservatory of Music artists.

The event is billed as both a celebration of Pannell’s birthday and his decades of community involvement in Ward 8 and across Washington, DC.
