WASHINGTON – Melvin Green, 27, of the District of Columbia, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 60 months in prison in connection with his role in a 2023 kidnapping that later resulted in the deaths of two men, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

Green, aka “Fat Goat,” pleaded guilty on Jan. 5, 2026, before Judge Coleen Kollar-Kotelly to a charge of accessory after the fact kidnapping. In addition to the 60-month prison term, Judge Kollar-Kotelly ordered Green to serve three years of supervised release.

According to court papers, on June 6, 2023, Green and others traveled from the 4400 block of F Street SE to the Saint Yves nightclub on the 1200 block of Connecticut Ave. NW for a birthday celebration. After returning to F Street in the early morning hours of June 8, Green served as a lookout while his co-conspirators searched an unoccupied Mercedes SUV that was parked on F Street.

Glock pistol recovered from search of Green’s residence.

Shortly after 3:40 a.m., Green’s associates kidnapped the Mercedes’ owner, dragging him from the driver’s seat and capturing a second victim. The individuals removed the victims’ clothing and confined them inside the Mercedes to prevent them from fleeing. As the kidnapping unfolded, an individual passed a firearm to Green, who tucked the gun into his waistband and walked away.

Without Green, the individuals drove to a nearby area where they threatened and assaulted the victims at gunpoint. The individuals then drove one of the victims into Maryland. About 4:40 a.m., the group arrived at an apartment complex in Suitland, Maryland, where one of the victims had a residence and burglarized the victim’s apartment. An hour later, the group arrived at another of the victim’s apartments in Waldorf where the group staged an armed robbery.

About 5:45 a.m., surveillance cameras recorded three individuals engaging in a shootout with the victim. The shootout left the victim and one of the co-conspirators fatally wounded. About 6:45 a.m., first responders found the victim’s Mercedes engulfed in flames in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

This case was investigated by the FBI’s Washington Field Office’s Violent Crimes Task Force and Safe Streets Task Force, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland.

The matter was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys John Crabb Jr. and Anthony Scarpelli of the Violent Crimes and Narcotics Trafficking section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
