May 28 | Advisory Neighborhood Commission 8A
An Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) is a locally elected neighborhood body in Washington, D.C. that represents residents on community issues like development, liquor licenses, transportation, public safety, parks, and sanitation.
DC agencies are required to give ANC recommendations “great weight,” meaning they can strongly influence local decisions.
Each neighborhood is divided into small districts, and residents elect commissioners every two years to advocate for their community.
