June 26 | Caribbean Rhythms and Culture Come Alive in Congress Heights

The sounds, flavors, and traditions of the Caribbean will take center stage in Washington, DC, as the Mayor's Office on Caribbean Community Affairs (MOCCA) and D.C. Caribbean Carnival, Inc. host the 4th Annual Caribbean Cultural Concert on Friday, June 26.

Taking place from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Sycamore & Oak, this free, family-friendly event celebrates the rich cultural diversity of the Caribbean diaspora while bringing together residents and visitors from across the region.

Guests can enjoy an evening filled with live entertainment, including steelband performances, soca, reggae, calypso, and folk music. Traditional and contemporary dance performances will showcase the vibrant energy and creativity of Caribbean cultures, while art displays, poetry, and storytelling presentations highlight the histories and experiences that continue to shape Caribbean communities.

The event will also feature Caribbean cuisine, a health and wellness resource fair, and interactive activities for all ages. Families can participate in a DIY Carnival Workshop and Kiddie Carnival experience, where attendees can learn about the history of Carnival and explore the artistry behind costume design.

Now in its fourth year, the Caribbean Cultural Concert continues to serve as a celebration of heritage, community, and cultural exchange, offering an opportunity for residents to experience the many traditions that make the Caribbean diaspora such an important part of Washington, DC's cultural landscape.
