June 21 | Solstice Saturday at National Museum of African Art

Saturday, June 21 · 4 - 11:59pm
Smithsonian National Museum of African Art
950 Independence Avenue Southwest

Solstice Saturday continues African Art’s Live Arts Series "The Earth Still Shakes!" Through musical performances by Inka Kendzia, Sio, and Asna, the series will reflect the spiritual shudders that abound in performance, activism, and actions, and the ways that artists talk through their bodies to express their connections to objects, the natural world, and the cosmos. These live performances will animate and breathe life into the Museum’s collections.

Experience some of the arts and offerings of Burundi, including a marketplace, a basket weaving demonstration, and the vibrant rhythms of Burundi’s royal drums and captivating elegance of traditional dance!
