Darnell Duncan, 34, Arrest for 9th Street NW Robbery

The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest in a robbery that occurred in Northwest.
 
On Sunday, August 2, 2026, at approximately 3:02 a.m., Third District officers were flagged down for the report of a robbery that had just occurred in the 1300 block of 9th Street, Northwest. The suspect approached the victim and made demands for an apology. The suspect then snatched a chain from around the victim’s neck, made threats, and subsequently used the chain to assault the victim. The victim fled on foot after sustaining minor injuries.
 
While canvassing the area, officers quickly located the suspect and placed him under arrest. 

34-year-old Darnell Duncan, of Northeast, DC, was charged with Robbery (Snatch), Misdemeanor Threats to Do Bodily Harm, and Simple Assault.
