You Could Be Eligible for Up to $750 Toward Security Cameras

Thinking about installing security cameras at your home or business? The District of Columbia may be able to help cover the cost through its Private Security Camera Rebate Program.

Administered by the DC Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG), the program provides rebates to eligible residents, businesses, nonprofits, and religious institutions that purchase and install qualifying exterior security camera systems. Participants must also register their cameras with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Eligible applicants can receive:

• Up to $200 per camera

• Up to $500 per residential property

• Up to $750 per business, nonprofit, or religious institution

The rebate covers the cost of the cameras, including sales tax, but does not cover installation, accessories, or cloud storage fees.

The program has also expanded in recent years. Property owners who have participated in the program for at least four years may be eligible to apply for another round of rebates. In addition, qualifying small businesses, nonprofits, and religious institutions may also be eligible for rebates on interior security cameras and glass break sensors.

District residents who receive certain forms of public assistance may qualify for a separate voucher program that provides a security camera system and installation at no cost.
