WMATA Summer Construction Map through July 26, 2025
The Summer 2025 Major Construction project will be conducted in two phases. Phase 1, between July 5 and July 26, Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn Ststations will close on the Blue Line. Metrorail service on the Blue Line will terminate at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Potomac Yard,Braddock Road and King St-Old Town stations will be open for Yellow Line service only. For two weekends, July 12 and 13 and July 19 and 20, 2025, the Yellow Line will single-track between Huntington and Braddock Rd stations. Huntington, Eisenhower Ave, and King St-Old Town stations will remain open. Metro chose a three-week schedule to avoid 10 weekend closures and 10 weeks of early weekday closures.
During Phase 2, Branch Ave, Suitland, and Naylor Road stations will close on the Green Line between Aug. 2 and Aug. 31. Additionally, for two weekends, Aug. 9 and 10 and Aug. 16 and 17, Congress Heights and Southern Avenue will close. Metro chose a four-week construction schedule to avoid seven months of consecutive weekend closures. The work is also being completed during months when ridership is typically lower.
This work will improve tracks and signaling, resulting in a smoother ride for customers.
