Traffic Advisory | First Amendment Activity in Downtown

On Friday, May 1, 2026, there are multiple First Amendment activities occurring within the District of Columbia. In conjunction with these events, there will be parking restrictions and street closures that motorists should take into consideration. Further the Metropolitan Police Department would like to remind motorists and pedestrians of increased activity in the downtown area.

On Friday, May 1, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking:

  • Constitution Avenue, from 17th Street to 15th Street, NW

  • 15th Street, from Constitution Avenue to H Street, NW

  • H Street from 15th Street to 17th Street, NW

  • 16th Street from H Street to I Street, NW

  • I Street from 17th Street to 13th Street, NW

On Friday, May 1, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the following streets may experience temporary street closures:

  • Constitution Avenue, from 17th Street to 14th Street, NW

  • 15th Street, from Independence Avenue to I Street, NW

  • H Street from 14th Street to 17th Street, NW

  • 16th Street from H Street to K Street, NW

  • I Street from 16th Street to 13th Street, NW

On Friday, May 1, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the following streets may experience temporary street closures:

  • H Street from 17th Street to 15th Street, NW

  • I Street from 17th Street to 15th Street, NW

  • 16th Street from H Street to K Street, NW
