A community fundraiser is taking place today, Friday, October 30, 2026, to support Anacostia Organics, a Black-owned, woman-owned, family-operated cannabis dispensary in Historic Anacostia facing serious financial challenges.
The fundraiser aims to raise $40,000 to help keep the business operating while honoring the contributions of its founder, Linda Green, a longtime advocate who helped shape Washington, DC's cannabis industry.
For years, Green worked to advance cannabis legalization, advocate for industry opportunities, and open doors for others. Today, she and her daughter are working to preserve the business they built together.
Organizers are calling on community members, business owners, entrepreneurs, and supporters to attend the fundraiser, make donations, and help spread the word.
Beyond the immediate financial goal, the event highlights the challenges facing independent, Black-owned businesses and the importance of supporting longtime community entrepreneurs.
