Springtime in Historic Anacostia Returns on Saturday, May 16
Historic Anacostia will come alive with art, music, creativity, and community during Springtime in Anacostia on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Taking place from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. along Marion Barry Ave. SE and MLK Jr. Ave. SE, the free event invites residents and visitors to celebrate the season with a full day of experiences centered around renewal, self-expression, and local culture.
One of the day’s biggest highlights will be what organizers say may become the World’s Largest Candle Making Workshop, giving attendees the chance to tap into their creativity and create something unique to take home.
Guests can also step into a whimsical Mad Hatter Tea Party featuring tea, treats, themed décor, and plenty of opportunities to show off their spring style.
Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy live music, shopping, dining, art installations, and pop-up experiences from local creatives, businesses, and community organizations.
Organizers say the event is designed to celebrate not only the arrival of spring, but also the creativity and energy that continue to shape Historic Anacostia.
The event is free to attend, but registration is encouraged.
