At Rocketship Public Schools, we believe in the infinite possibility of human potential. We believe that every student deserves the right to dream, to discover, and to develop their unique potential. And it is our responsibility and our privilege to unleash the potential inside every Rocketeer we serve. Our non-profit network of public elementary charter schools propels student achievement, develops exceptional educators, and partners with parents who enable high-quality public schools to thrive in their community. We are a collective of parents, teachers, leaders, and students working together to transform the future for underserved communities across our country. At Rocketship Public Schools, we are unleashing potential.

Rocketship launched its first school in San Jose, California in 2007 with a vision to eliminate the achievement gap in our lifetime. The network has grown to now serve students and families across four regions nationwide - the Bay Area, Milwaukee, Nashville, and Washington D.C. Rocketship’s D.C. network launched three years ago and now serves over 1,000 students across two schools in historically underserved communities in southeast D.C. Rocketship D.C. has quickly established a reputation for serving all students with excellence and already ranks among the highest performing public charter school networks in D.C. serving predominantly “at-risk” students.

The Position

Rocketship is looking for an individual to lead development in Washington, D.C. and the broader East Coast region. The East Coast Director of Development will have significant autonomy in this function and will be responsible for managing all relationships with our East Coast prospects and donors. The East Coast Director of Development will be directly responsible for raising the $1M needed to meet Rocketship D.C.’s growth goals each school year. To accomplish this, the East Coast Director of Development will help set the strategy for D.C. development and marshal support from internal Rocketship teams to achieve our goals. He or she will report directly to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and partner closely with Rocketship Public Schools' D.C. Regional Director and DC Board Chair.

As the East Coast Director of Development, you will work alongside a talented team of change agents who are working to improve equity and excellence in public education. You will have the unique and exciting opportunity to build the development infrastructure and shape the direction of our regional development strategy.
