PPH, Inc. seeks energetic, creative, reliable people for two positions:

1. Program Operations Leader, Hourly ($15/hr, no benefits)

2. Marketing Intern (Summer only)

Promoting Practical Health, Inc. is a health tech company committed to improving health literacy and engagement in health and well-being among low and middle-income adults. Our values are simplicity, authenticity and trust. This means our approach to improving access to usable health information is people-centric, honest and straightforward. We are developing two service lines:

1.     A web-based health literacy video series to help people navigate the health system and common misconceptions about health

2.     A technology-enabled triage system to assist in medical decision-making

PPH, Inc. was founded by Dr. Lisa Fitzpatrick, a Ward 8 resident, medical doctor, and CDC-trained epidemiologist. After many years serving the community and working at Howard University and Greater Southeast (UMC) Hospitals, she recognized the need to help people better understand health, medicine and health care. PPH is her effort to bring health resources to the community and make them more accessible to those who feel isolated by the health care system. In the coming months, PPH will expand activities both online and in the community. Therefore, an Operations Leader and marketing intern are needed to assist in the oversight, development and implementation of PPH activities.

POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Program Operations Leader (POL)
The POL will assist in PPH administration, event planning, attendance tracking, online research and editorial functions. The ideal candidate is a Ward 7 or 8 resident passionate about improving community health promotion. Desired attributes include: resourcefulness, initiative, ability to work autonomously or remotely, creativity, curiosity, confidence, punctuality, deadline-oriented, honesty and flexibility. The person must have an excellent written and oral command of English and ideally, be able to proofread and correct grammatical and spelling errors overlooked by spell check. Other duties may include, creating reports and presentations, grant packaging, project coordination and event and conference planning. Other desired qualities include: 1. Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail and 2. Having keen eye for logistics and processes. For the right candidate this position may expand and transition to a full-time position.

 Marketing Intern
The Marketing Intern is a reliable, self-starter who is passionate about health to help manage its expanding communications efforts. This person will work on and support materials development, social media and website content, and research about and outreach to the community. Additionally, the Marketing Intern may assist, as needed, with operations, including answering phones and other basic administrative tasks as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·      Knowledge of and interest in health and wellness

·      Documented ability to take initiative, multitask, and be flexible

·      Strong interpersonal skills

·      Intermediate experience with

o   Microsoft Word (e.g., multi-page documents, formatting and styles, layout of newsletter/brochure/summary documents)

o   Excel (e.g., formulas in budgets and data management, basic charts, tracking and monitoring spreadsheets)

o   PowerPoint (creation of slide decks with multi-media

·      Demonstrated use of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

·      Knowledge and use of current standards for materials and data visualization is a plus

Time commitment: This position requires 5-10 hours week, from June 10-August 30, 2018. It is based in Washington DC and the intern will work on a schedule to be arranged with Dr. Lisa.

Education: High school student or college undergraduate
