OUT OF CHAOS Exhibition Brings the Evolution of DC Graffiti and Street Art to Honfleur Gallery
A new exhibition opening in Anacostia this August will spotlight the creative evolution of artists whose journeys began in the worlds of graffiti and street art.
OUT OF CHAOS will be on view August 15 through September 26, 2026, at Honfleur Gallery, located at 1241 Marion Barry Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20020.
Presented by Honfleur Gallery in collaboration with Valley Place Arts Collaborative and curated by Luis Del Valle, the exhibition brings together artists who spent 15 years or more creating unauthorized street art throughout the Washington metropolitan area before going on to establish respected careers in contemporary visual art.
Today, their work can be found in galleries, museums, public art projects, and cultural institutions.
From the Streets to Contemporary Art
Inspired by the legacy of hip-hop culture and graffiti as forms of storytelling, identity, and resistance, OUT OF CHAOS explores themes of transformation, resilience, perseverance, and creative evolution.
Through painting, mixed media, and contemporary urban aesthetics, the exhibition shares the personal and artistic journeys of creators who transformed adversity into opportunity and chaos into purpose.
More than a showcase of artwork, OUT OF CHAOS highlights the ways creativity can emerge from challenging circumstances and become a force for personal transformation and stronger communities.
