Opportunity Alert -Muralists for We Make DC Exhibition

DC artists, this one’s for you.

WE MAKE DC, a community-centered exhibition by Shop Made in DC, is seeking muralists to create immersive works that celebrate the culture, history, and identity of Washington, DC as part of America’s 250th anniversary.

Selected artists will design and install original murals inside dressing room spaces—each one representing one of DC’s eight wards through storytelling, visuals, and lived experience.

Project Details

  • One mural per artist (assigned or selected ward)

  • Designs span at least two walls (approx. 7x9 ft and 5x9 ft)

  • Focus on community, culture, landmarks, and narratives tied to each ward

  • $1,000 stipend (includes design, materials, and installation)

Who Should Apply

  • DC-based artists (strongly encouraged)

  • Emerging and established muralists

  • Creatives with a connection to DC communities
