October 10 Deadline for DC Youth Climate Action Grants

Young DC residents have a new opportunity to turn their ideas for addressing climate and environmental challenges into action.

The DC Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) has opened applications for the Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund, offering grants of $1,000 to $5,000 to support projects that engage DC residents ages 15–24 in designing and implementing climate solutions.

DC is one of 300 cities participating in the initiative. In addition to funding, selected projects will receive technical assistance and support to help young participants carry their ideas through to completion.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, including those with 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) status; faith-based organizations; and universities and educational institutions.

Proposed projects should include meaningful youth leadership and will be evaluated based on factors including alignment with the District’s climate priorities and potential impact.

The deadline to apply is October 10, 2026. Online applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m., after which the application portal will close.
