Poetry, music and plenty of surprises are on the lineup at Busboys and Poets Anacostia as the 1st Friday Night Open Mic returns on Friday, October 2, hosted by DJ Art.is.
The two-hour Busboys and Poetry event brings together a mix of professional spoken word artists, musicians and open mic newcomers, creating a space where both established performers and fresh voices can take the stage.
This month’s host, DJ Art.is, brings experience from both sides of the microphone. Known for his ear for melodies and lyrics, he built his creative platform behind the turntables before getting an opportunity to step out from behind the DJ booth and share his own poetry.
Since 2018, DJ Art.is has continued developing his craft, blending his interests in music, poetry and creating an atmosphere for audiences. His musical range stretches across R&B, Hip-Hop, oldies, Top 40 and Soul.
