Now Hiring: Community Outreach Director (Contract/Freelance) | Special Olympics D.C.
Special Olympics D.C. is seeking a passionate Community Outreach Director to support and grow community-based programming for athletes across the District. This contract/freelance, mid-level role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of community engagement, sports, and social impact.
Starting February 16, 2026 (with applications due by February 13, 2026), the Community Outreach Director will play a key role in identifying programming needs, building partnerships, and connecting community leaders, civic groups, and corporate partners to Special Olympics D.C. initiatives. The role also supports premier competition and campaign experiences for athletes.
Key responsibilities include:
Building community capacity and engagement across programs and campaigns
Developing sport calendars, training sessions, and competitions
Leading Games Management Committees and supporting fundraising campaigns
Recruiting athletes, coaches, unified partners, and volunteers
Collaborating with professional sports teams and sport governing bodies on clinics and outreach
Building and sustaining partnerships with community organizations
