MPD Data Shows Significant Reduction in Shootings

The Metropolitan Police Department has released data showing the number of incidents involving shooting victims through February 5 for each of the past four years.

According to MPD records, the reported figures are as follows:

  • 2026: 13 incidents

  • 2025: 41 incidents

  • 2024: 47 incidents

  • 2023: 62 incidents

These numbers reflect incidents with shooting victims recorded by MPD during the specified timeframes and are based on data entered into the department’s records management system.
