π Life in Wood: Anacostia River Walk β Opening Reception at Honfleur Gallery
Life in Wood: Anacostia River Walk, curated by Luis Del Valle, opens with a special reception celebrating the six-decade artistic legacy of Washington, DC cultural artist John Zaire El-Badr Cauley. Presented by Valley Place Arts Collaborative in collaboration with Honfleur Gallery, the exhibition showcases mixed-media assemblages created from driftwood gathered from the Anacostia and Potomac Riversβexploring ancestry, memory, migration, and resilience.
In recognition of Black History Month, the exhibition also includes selections from El-Badrβs Collage Collection (1990β1995) and works from his Black History stamp collection, adding an archival layer to the show.
The opening reception will feature a special Release Open Mic, inviting community voices into conversation with the exhibition.
