Lafonzo Leonard Williams Arrested for Shooting During Road Rage Incident

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in a shooting that resulted from a road rage incident in Northwest.

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, at approximately 4:07 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to the to a report of a shooting at the intersection of Georgia and Missouri Avenues, Northwest. During a traffic dispute, the suspect exited his vehicle, armed with a handgun, and shot the victim. The suspect then fled the area in a vehicle.

DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers immediately conducted a canvass and located the suspect and his vehicle nearby. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

58-year-old Lafonzo Leonard Williams, of Northwest, D.C., was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
