June 4 | Free Estate Planning Workshop and Legal Clinic
Planning for the future is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your property, possessions, and loved ones. DC residents are invited to attend a free educational event focused on estate planning and property preservation.
The event will provide an overview of key estate planning concepts and legal documents, including wills, probate, trusts, healthcare directives, powers of attorney, and more. Participants will learn how these tools can help safeguard their assets and ensure their wishes are honored.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to receive a free "property check-up" with legal volunteers who can review deeds and tax records for property they own or have inherited. On-site intake services will be available, and eligible participants may be paired with a lawyer at no cost through participating pro bono legal organizations. Others may receive referrals to private attorneys based on their individual needs and circumstances.
This valuable community resource is being offered through a collaboration between DC Affordable Law Firm, the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center, the Department of Housing and Community Development, Legal Counsel for the Elderly, Legal Aid DC, and Christian Legal Aid.
Whether you are beginning to think about estate planning or want to better understand your property rights, this event offers an opportunity to connect with trusted legal professionals and gain important information for the future.
