June 29 | DDOT Public Meeting on DC Smart Street Lighting Project for Wards 7 + 8

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at R.I.S.E. Demonstration Center located at 2730 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE to share an update on the DC Smart Street Lighting project. DDOT will discuss the project overview and the schedule and answer questions from the community about installed lighting and upcoming installations for Wards 7 and 8.

The DC Smart Street Lighting Project will modernize 72,051 streetlights in the District of Columbia by converting them to LED technology with remote monitoring and control capabilities. LEDs better direct light onto the road, sidewalks, and trails, all helping to improve safety and advance the District’s Vision Zero goals. The project increases the city’s sustainability efforts by reducing streetlight energy consumption by more than 50 percent, eliminating 38,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year.

Please see the attached flyer for additional meeting information.
