August 6 | Youth Fishing Day at Anacostia Park
Looking for a free, family-friendly summer activity in the heart of DC? Head to Anacostia Park on Wednesday, July 30th, from 11 AM – 2 PM for a special Youth Fishing Day—part of a weekly series running through August 27th.
Led by Friends of Anacostia Park (FoAP) Resident Angler Mr. Holmes and Fish & Feathers Intern Val, this program is designed for youth ages 5–15 and their chaperones (ages 16+). It’s a great opportunity to learn the basics of fishing, explore the outdoors, and make memories on the river.
🎣 Two sessions are offered each Wednesday:
• Session 1: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Session 2: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Highlights include:
✅ No sign-up required
🎁 Free fishing rod and tackle box for youth participants
🏅 Earn a National Park Service Junior Ranger badge
🎟️ Chaperones can receive a free fishing license (DC, MD, or VA)
This is a fantastic way to introduce kids to the joys of fishing, nature, and stewardship in one of DC’s most scenic parks. Don’t miss it!
