July 15 | Ward 8 Walk to the Polls

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the Historic Anacostia Block Association (HABA) and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) are inviting Ward 8 residents to come together for a community-led effort to get out the vote for the upcoming Ward 8 Special Election.

The day will begin with a morning meet-up at Sweet Tooth (2323 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave SE) at 8:00 a.m., followed by a short three-block walk to Union Temple Baptist Church (1225 W St SE), where neighbors can cast their votes for the next Ward 8 Councilmember.

This walk is more than just a trip to the polls—it’s a show of civic pride and community unity.

Even if you've already voted by mail, drop box, or early in-person, you're encouraged to join the group for a social morning of connection and support.

  • 8:00 a.m. – Meet at Sweet Tooth

  • 8:30 a.m. – Group walk begins

  • 8:45 a.m. – Arrive at Union Temple Baptist Church to vote
