July 15 - 29 | Bellevue Library Movie Matinees
July is Disability Pride Month, and the Bellevue Neighborhood Library continues its summer matinee series with classic films like Edward Scissorhands and Finding Nemo. All movies will be shown with captions. We'll also have snacks while supplies last!
Tuesday, July 15, from 3:00-5:00 pm. Edward Scissorhands. This live-action Gothic fairy tale stars Johnny Depp as a humanoid boy with scissors for fingers whose remarkable talents are overshadowed by the isolation and stigma he finds in suburban American life. Please note this movie is rated PG-13.
Friday, July 25, from 2:30-5:00 pm. Avatar. In this visually stunning film directed by action master James Cameron, a paraplegic Marine joins forces with native inhabitants of Pandora to save their planet from a company bent on stripping its natural resources. Please note this movie is rated PG-13.
Tuesday, July 29, from 3:00-5:00 pm. Finding Dory. The plucky hero at the heart of this epic Pixar quest is a loveable Pacific Regal Blue tang fish with short-term memory loss. The Disability Visibility Project called Finding Dory "a clear celebration of neurodiversity and neurodivergence."
And while you're at the library, explore our Disability Pride Month children's book display, coloring sheets and other fun related resources. We're also happy to help you sign up for Discover Summer, a city-wide celebration of reading and learning for people of all ages!
