In memory of Karon Brown, today's CHotR is focused on crime prevention and support services

Karon Brown

Karon Brown

I’m going to keep this brief because I’m really upset and I want to focus on doing something to help. I have so much Southeast Love for Ward 7 and Ward 8 and it rocks me to my core that we are once again mourning the loss of another life, this time 11 year old Karon Brown, a student at Stanton Elementary.

These shootings and homicides are against everything we as DC residents stand for. We are a network of neighbors, families, advocates and friends and we will not stand idly by, wringing our hands over this latest tragedy.

We will act. We will support one another and we will hold those responsible accountable.

Today, Congress Heights on the Rise will feature information from DC Police on this and other homicides as well as crime prevention programs and services.

I’m inviting DC agencies and organizations who want to engage with the east of the river community at this difficult time with offers of support, counseling, crime prevention information, etc. to send an email to info@respindc.com and I will be happy to post that information here on the site.

Thank you and please keep this family
