Historic Anacostia hosts Jazz In The 'Hoods Launch Event on Sat, June 8th

ANACOSTIA BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT AND EAST RIVER JAZZ HOST LAUNCH EVENT FOR THE DC JAZZFEST’S JAZZ IN THE ‘HOODS PRESENTED BY EVENTS DC IN HISTORIC ANACOSTIA
SATURDAY, JUNE 8, 2019, 12PM – 6PM

This event marks the first time the DC Jazz Festival presented by EventsDC will host the
Jazz in the‘Hoods launch event east of the Anacostia River!

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Anacostia Business Improvement District and East River Jazz have partnered to kick off the DC JazzFest’s Jazz in the ‘Hoods, presented by Events DC, on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 12pm to 6pm at several locations in Historic Anacostia. All events are free and open to the public.

In celebration of the 15th Annual DC JazzFest, this is the first time Jazz in the ‘Hoods will launch east of the Anacostia River. Attendees to Historic Anacostia’s flourishing arts district will be treated to the neighborhood’s charm, music and arts offerings at various creative hubs  - from dynamic jazz performances at the Anacostia Arts Center to artistic expressions and exhibits at Busboys and Poets.

The event kicks off at 12pm at The Meetup Tent (2015 MLK Ave SE) for opening remarks and live performances.  Concurrently, the Jazz Hop, a variety of dynamic performances will begin at four locations within the Anacostia BID: the East River JazzFest Café (located at the Meetup Tent), Busboys and Poets (2004 MLK, Ave SE), Check-It Enterprises (1920 MLK, Ave SE) and the Anacostia Arts Center (1231 Good Hope Rd SE). Jazz lovers can expect a unique cultural experience featuring local performers, visual artists, delicious cuisine, art, retail and more! The organizers would like to thank National Service Contractors for generously allowing the use of their lot for this special event.
