Fireworks can trigger PTSD in combat veterans and others
Something to think about before setting off those 4th of July fireworks, especially before and after the holiday. What may be harmless fun (or a minor aggravation) for one person may be a traumatic experience for another. The Advoc8te wonders if someone in Ward 8 could advocate to get some of the free (or paid) fireworks signs for neighborhood veterans and those suffering from PTSD? Just a thought. If you would like to get a sign or learn more about the program go here.
Nothing says the Fourth of July like fireworks. The patriotic displays of red, white, and blue are a tradition dating back to America's first celebration in 1776. For many Americans, there's no better way to celebrate independence and freedom. But for some who fought for freedom, they react differently -- the loud booms can snap them back to another reality.
