Fatal Shooting of Demarco Lyles, 24, Georgia Ave, NW

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Northwest.   
 
On Sunday, April 26, 2026, at approximately 2:39 a.m., Third District officers were in the area of the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, when they heard the sound of gunshots. A short time later, an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds was transported by a private vehicle to a local hospital for treatment. Despite all lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead. 
 
The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Demarco Lyles, of Northwest, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
