Fatal Shooting of Andre Herndon, 30, in Southeast

Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Southeast.

On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 3:21 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to the 5300 block of E Street, Southeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim in the parking lot who was unconscious and not breathing, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life and pronounced the victim dead.

victim has been identified as 30-year-old Andre Herndon of Alexandria, VA.

During their immediate canvass, officers located a second adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS transported the second victim to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
