DDOT Scheduled to Repave Roads Across Wards 7 and 8 Through July 24

Drivers, commuters, and neighborhood residents should prepare for temporary traffic impacts as the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) continues its citywide pavement restoration program over the next two weeks.

Weather permitting, paving crews will be working between Friday, July 10, and Friday, July 24, to improve road conditions at several locations throughout Wards 7 and 8. The work is part of DDOT's ongoing effort to maintain safer, smoother streets across the District.

Ward 7 Paving Locations

  • 19th Street SE between Independence Avenue SE and Burke Street SE

  • 49th Street NE between Fitch Place NE and Grant Street NE

  • DC-295 northbound between East Capitol Street and Benning Road NE

  • DC-295 southbound between East Capitol Street and Jay Street NE

  • E Street NE between 18th Street NE and F Street NE

  • E Street NE between F Street NE and 19th Street NE

  • East Capitol Street between the Anacostia River Bridge and B Street SE

  • Kramer Street NE between 16th Street NE and 17th Street NE

Ward 8 Paving Locations

  • 4th Street SE between Woodcrest Drive SE and Woodcrest Drive SE

  • Mississippi Avenue SE between Cook Drive SE and 19th Street SE

  • Stanton Road SE between Tobias Road SE and Shippen Lane SE

Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through active work zones, follow posted signs and traffic control devices, and allow extra travel time if their route includes one of the listed locations.

DDOT notes that all paving activities are weather dependent and schedules may change if conditions require.
