COVID: 1 😷 The Advoc8te: 0

Well… it finally happened. After years of ducking and dodging, COVID caught me. I was convinced I had a raging flu, the kind that wipes you out, makes you question your life choices, and has you Googling “best soups for survival.” 🍲 But nope. The Urgent Care test came back positive, and here we are.

I don’t know exactly where I picked it up, but since I’m pretty much a homebody, my best guess is the hair salon. I can tell you I definitely passed it on to at least one other person. I think it’s best practice to notify others when you test positive, which is exactly what I did after testing positive on Sunday. COVID may be part of our present-day life, but it still kills — and in my case, it can make people really sick, especially those who are immunocompromised.

So please, be careful out there. Wash your hands diligently, and maybe consider bringing those masks back out of retirement. 😷

For context, I had my last booster in September, so even the most cautious among us can still catch it.

I’ll be starting Paxlovid once CVS’s nationwide computer outage is over and they can actually resume issuing prescriptions again. How crazy is that? 💻😩 Until then, I’m surviving on ibuprofen, tissues, cranberry juice, and that terrible-tasting Gatorade that somehow hits different when you’re sick. 🧃💊

If you noticed things were quiet on the blog and newsletter over the weekend, that’s why. Between coughing, napping, and dramatically sighing at my thermometer, I haven’t had much energy left for writing.

I’ll be taking a few days to rest and get myself together. If I’m feeling up to it, I’ll post when I can, but if the site or newsletter goes silent, don’t worry, I’m not ghosting you. I’m just over here trying to stop looking like a rejected extra from The Walking Dead. 🧟‍♀️

Appreciate everyone’s patience, good vibes, and any virtual chicken soup you want to send my way. 🐔💻

Stay safe, stay healthy, and keep those hands clean — apparently COVID is still out here collecting new fans. 🙃
