Communications & National Arts and Sciences Initiative Internships - $3,600

We are excited to share this opportunity for seasonal employment with The Phi Beta Kappa Society’s national office in Washington, DC. We are looking for two part-time interns to work on a variety of projects.

Communications Intern 

This intern will work primarily with our Communications and Chapters & Associations teams to conduct research and develop materials to join the national conversation on advancing the liberal arts and sciences and supporting the Society’s 290 chapters and 50 associations. The intern will have an opportunity to participate in the day-to-day responsibilities of running a non-profit with a nationwide reach. Duties will include:

  • Assisting in the development of communications and social media posts;

  • Developing copy for Phi Beta Kappa national website;

  • Developing copy for regional Phi Beta Kappa association websites and newsletters;

  • Drafting general correspondence and proofreading documents as needed;

  • Sending local event emails to members using Informz;

  • Updating the communications calendar with engagement opportunities;

  • Collaborating with the communications and web teams on new content and concepts;

  • Researching higher education news stories;

  • Other duties as assigned.


National Arts & Sciences Initiative Intern

This intern will work with our National Arts & Sciences Initiative team to conduct research, develop materials, and join the national conversation on supporting the liberal arts and sciences. The assistant will have an opportunity to participate in the day-to-day responsibilities of a major advocacy campaign. Duties will include:

  • Researching higher education news, legislative developments, and legislators for meeting and alerts;

  • Assisting in the development of Initiative communications and social media posts;

  • Supporting the design and execution of advocacy event planning which can include: researching potential speakers and award recipients, compiling invitation lists, helping design event materials, and providing onsite assistance;

  • Drafting general correspondence and proofreading documents as needed; and

  • Other duties as assigned.
