Bruce McNeil, award-winning environmental fine-arts photographer has passed away

The Advoc8te is sad to report that she received a call letting her know that Bruce McNeil passed away this morning. I do not have any details at this time but ARCH Development will host a memorial for Bruce McNeil sometime in the near future. Arch Development and the Gautier Family awarded Bruce the Fifth Annual East of the River Distinguished Artist Award in 2016.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bruce years ago during my time at ARCH Development in Anacostia and I will miss his laugh and his charm. Bruce’s commitment to the arts and the east of the river community, particularly the Anacostia River (the source of much of his work) was legendary. You can see Bruce’s work featured on the wall of the underpass leading into Anacostia Park and all over DC. My thoughts are with Bruce’s family and friends, especially Misty Brown his constant friend and companion.
