August 14 | Beautiful Souls Opening Reception at the Anacostia Arts Center
Thursday, August 14 · 6:30 - 8:30pm
Anacostia Arts Center
1231 Good Hope Road Southeast Washington, DC 20020
Join the community for an unforgettable evening as the Anacostia Arts Center opens its final exhibit before closing its doors for a transformative renovation.
For more than a decade, the AAC has been more than a building—it’s been a home for creativity, a launchpad for entrepreneurs, and a gathering place for neighbors. Now, as it prepares for its next chapter, the center invites you to reflect on the stories, faces, and voices that have defined this beloved Ward 8 institution.
“Beautiful, also, are the souls” is a moving photo and oral history exhibit honoring the artists, small business owners, and community members who have made the AAC a cultural anchor. Produced in partnership with The DAP Project and supported by HumanitiesDC, the exhibit celebrates memory, community, and legacy.
Opening Reception Highlights:
Meet the Storytellers – Engage with the people featured in the exhibit and hear firsthand how the AAC shaped their journeys.
Panel Conversation – Gain insight from the creative minds behind The DAP Project.
First Look at the Exhibit – Experience an intimate collection of portraits and oral histories.
Food, Drinks & Music – Enjoy local flavors, refreshing drinks, and the sounds of community celebration.
This is more than an art opening, it’s a heartfelt sendoff and a toast to the future. RSVP now and be part of the story.
