April 17 | Deadline to file Nominating Petitions for Ward 8 Special Election

The District of Columbia Board of Elections (DCBOE) is reminding all candidates and the public of two critical deadlines in the ballot access process for the July 15, 2025 Ward 8 Special Election:

● Thursday, April 17, 2025: Deadline for candidates to file nominating petitions, petition supplements, and/or any additional forms necessary for ballot access in the July 15, 2025 Ward 8 Special Election. Note: DCBOE offices will be closed on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in observance of DC Emancipation Day.

All required documents should be filed at DCBOE’s offices at 1015 Half Street, SE, Suite 750, by 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Candidates should arrive with their petition sheets counted/numbered and other documents ready to file.

● Sunday, April 20, 2025: Nominating petitions are posted for the 10-day challenge period, which ends on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 5:00 pm.

In addition to its regular weekday hours of 8:15 am to 4:45 pm, DCBOE will be open weekends (Sunday, April 20; Saturday, April 26; and Sunday, April 27) from 8:30 am to 4:45 pm during the challenge process.
