Applications Now Open: District E-Bike Incentive Program
The District’s popular District Electric Bicycle (E-Bike) Incentive Program is officially open—and now is the time to apply if you’ve been thinking about making the switch to an e-bike.
Managed by the District Department of Transportation (District Department of Transportation), the program helps DC residents purchase electric bicycles while also supporting local, authorized bike retailers across the city.
Here’s how it works:
Eligible residents can apply for a voucher of up to $1,500 to use toward the purchase of:
an e-bike
a helmet
a lock
100% of vouchers are reserved for DC residents enrolled in SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, or the DC Healthcare Alliance.
Applicants must be 18 years or older.
Do not purchase an e-bike before applying—you must be approved first to use the voucher.
Vouchers can only be redeemed at authorized local bike retailers (listed on the program website).
Important dates:
🗓 Application Window:
February 1 – February 21, 2026
🎟 Selection Process:
Voucher recipients will be chosen at random after the application period closes.
