Another Scorcher in DC: Temps Near 100°
Washington, DC is in for another extremely hot day, with temperatures expected to hit 97° and the humidity making it feel even worse. In other words: it’s one of those “drink water before you even step outside” kind of days.
If you can, try to limit long stretches of time outdoors, especially during the hottest part of the afternoon. And please remember: never leave children or pets in the car — not even for a quick errand. Temperatures inside vehicles can become deadly much faster than many people realize.
A few quick reminders for today:
Drink plenty of water
Take breaks indoors or in the shade
Never leave kids or pets in parked cars
Check in on older neighbors, friends, and relatives
Keep an eye out for animals that may be struggling in the heat
If you see an animal in distress, you can contact the DC shelter hotline at:

DC officials say extreme heat is actually one of the deadliest weather hazards each year, and our summers are becoming hotter, longer, and more humid than they were just a couple decades ago.
If you need somewhere to cool off, the District has cooling centers available across the city.
