July 11 | Free Family Lantern-Making Workshop
Families are invited to get creative and celebrate the magic of summer at a free lantern-making workshop on Saturday, July 11, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Participants will design colorful paper lanterns and luminaries using tissue paper, collage materials, pressed flowers, and other decorative elements. Inspired by light traditions from around the world, the workshop encourages families to reflect on the people, places, and moments that brighten their lives—from stars and campfires to fireworks, birthday candles, and summer celebrations.
The workshop will be led by Lo Yu (Saoirse) Chou, a graduate student in Art Therapy at George Washington University and a Project Create intern. Originally from Taiwan, Chou combines her background in psychology, journalism, and art to help participants explore creativity, emotional expression, and community connection through hands-on art experiences.
