18-Year-Old Arrested for Two Business Burglaries

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces the arrest of the suspect who burglarized multiple establishments in Northwest.
On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, members of MPD's Carjacking Task Force and Criminal Apprehension Unit arrested an 18-year-old male of Northwest, D.C. The male, who was a juvenile at the time of the offenses, was charged with two counts of Burglary II of an establishment, for the following offenses that occurred on Tuesday, March 3, 2026:
Burglary II (Establishment): At approximately 5:14 a.m., the suspect approached a restaurant in the 1000 block of 5th Street, Northwest, and shattered the front glass door with an axe. The suspect then entered the establishment, followed by two additional suspects. The suspects then stole the cash register before fleeing in a vehicle. CNN: 26027930
Burglary II (Establishment): At approximately 6:45 a.m., the suspect approached a restaurant on the 300 block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest and shattered the front glass door with an axe before entering the establishment. It was determined that the suspects stole currency and then fled the scene. CNN: 26027938
These cases remain under investigation, and detectives are investigating whether this suspect is connected to additional offenses.
