15-year-old Arrested for Armed Robbery

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a juvenile in an armed robbery in Southeast.

On Saturday, January 3, 2026, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to the report of an armed robbery in the 3200 block of Henson Road, Southeast. The suspects met with the victim to purchase a watch that the victim advertised for sale on a social media platform. The suspects brandished handguns and demanded the victim hand over the watch and other personal items. The suspects fled the scene with the property.

Surveillance footage revealed the suspects fled into a residence in the 1400 block of Shippen Lane, Southeast. Responding officers secured the area around the residence. At approximately 10:57 p.m., pursuant to a DC Superior Court search warrant, officers entered the residence and arrested a juvenile suspect. Two firearms were recovered inside the residence.

As a result of the detective's investigation, a 15-year-old juvenile male of Southeast, DC, was charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Receiving Stolen Property.

MPD is also encouraging residents to use designated Safe Exchange Zones if meeting up with people to complete transactions from online market platforms. These designated areas serve as a safe place for people to exchange goods or money in order to prevent pre-staged robberies. MPD also strongly encourages the public to be especially wary of meeting people who refuse to meet at a Safe Exchange Zone location.
