DPR Expands Hours for Summer, Pools and Spray Parks Open
The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced today expanded summer hours for recreation centers and that daily operations of outdoor swimming pools will begin for the summer on Saturday, June 13, 2009, and children's outdoor pools and spray parks will open on Monday, June 15.
DPR's outdoor swimming pools have been open weekends only since May 23 and the Memorial Day weekend. Throughout the summer, DPR will operate 19 outdoor swimming pools, five outdoor children's pools, and six spray parks across the District of Columbia. DPR's indoor pools will continue to follow their regular hours of operation. The complete list of locations and hours of DPR's pools and spray parks is provided below and available in the "Aquatics" section of DPR's website, dpr.dc.gov.
DPR will open 19 outdoor swimming pools for daily operations on June 13 and pools will be open Monday - Friday: 1 - 8 pm, and Saturday - Sunday: 12 noon - 6 pm; all pools close one weekday each week during the summer for service and maintenance. Five outdoor children's pools will open on Monday June 15 and will be open Monday to Friday, 12 noon to 5 pm. Children's outdoor pools are small developmental pools which range in depths from one to three feet, and are designed for children up to 12 years old. Outdoor children's pools will be open through August 21, 2009. DPR will also open six spray parks from Monday, June 15 through August 22, 2009. Spray parks are closed from 2 to 3 pm each weekday.
