THE RULES OF THE GAME
don't end up in timeout like teddy.
Follow The Rules!
Press interview requests can be submitted HERE.
Please indicate the subject, media outlet, and how soon you need the interview.
Please note that I do NOT grant interview requests on the subject of gentrification. That also goes for academic interview requests as well, it seems like everyone is doing their thesis on gentrification these days.
Try to give me a few days notice for on-camera interviews if possible. A girl wants to look her best.
requests from consultants/gov agencies/ORGANIZATIONS to "pick my brain" about my connections, outreach, marketing, event planninG EXPERTISE, etc.
That is called consulting work and I get paid for that. Just like you expect to be compensated for your talents, I expect to be compensated for mine.
Historically, east of the river professionals have been expected to volunteer their time while an "outside" professional/organization/business/nonprofit is awarded a handsome (and I mean handsome) contract to do the work they are not really qualified to do. The Advoc8te AKA Nikki Peele don't play that - at all.
Feel free (now that is free) to drop me a line at email@example.com to inquire about my consulting rates and services. I promise I'm worth every penny and then some!
REQUESTS TO “MEET FOR COFFEE” OR A "CHAT"
If this blog in anyway encouraged you to consider a move east of the river, I am so happy! Welcome neighbor! You will soon discover all the amazing things that make wards 7 & 8 so great!
Our views are amazing, the people are lovely, and there is a real sense of community here. Welcome! Feel free to drop me a line to introduce yourself but please note, I don't like coffee and even if I did, I wouldn't have time to go out to drink it anyway! It's a struggle to try to fit in some time to actually sleep! This is a one woman operation for the most part, I have to be pretty savage with my time to compensate. I don't even have the time to tell you I can't meet for coffee, so apologies in advance if your kind offer goes unanswered.
So alas, as much as I may want to, there is no way I can honor all of these generous invitations to have coffee or a chat. I wish I could! I have to reserve my limited "meeting time" for my consulting clients.
That said, I'm hoping sometime in the near future to host group events specifically for our new arrivals where we can meet and connect.
In the meantime, I invite you to attend your Advisory Neighborhood Commission monthly meeting, join the Great Ward 8 Facebook page, the Greater Ward 7 Facebook page, the MPD 7D Listserv and check-out one of the several social and community groups such as the Historic Anacostia Block Association, River East Emerging Leaders, Happy Ours or the Congress Heights Civic Association to start.
All of them do great work and they can't wait to meet you!
