Let's talk about anything else besides He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named

The Advoc8te is in hiding.

Hiding from the news, tweets, Facebook, iPhone notifications, carrier pigeons, etc. -- anything that has to do with the horror of what is going on down on Pennsylvania Avenue. I rather spend my energy and time on other things and not "entertain" our Commander-In-Reality-Chief with my time.

So with that in mind let's discuss other things. What is going on in the community? What is happening in your neighborhood? What's poppin' on the block?

Yes, let's distract ourselves from Ignominious Day and trumplethinskin... First, thanks for this blog. Your passion for Wards 7 and 8, and the many positive aspects you highlight here, were a couple main reasons why I decided to buy in Benning Ridge (sorry, "Fort DuPont Park"). While I haven't gotten out and about as much as I would like, I must say how pleasantly surprised I am with the small parts of SE that I have discovered. I love the abundant green space, the suburban feel, the stately homes on and off Pennsylvania and Alabama Avenues, and neighbors who give the area a small town, Southern feel. SE definitely has its noticeable and highly (overly) documented flaws, but fortunately those who know the real SE, as well as newbies like myself, realize what a great place it is to live. I'm excited to see how the area evolves over the next 5 - 10 years. Thank you for encouraging/ensuring Ward 7 & 8 residents have agency in that evolution. The seemingly drastic changes that have taken place in DC over the past 5 - 10 years did not happen overnight; thanks to the info disseminated here, no one should wake up down the road in a new SE (for better or for worse) and ask, "wait, what?"
