Tomorrow we will elect a new Ward 8 Councilmember. Will anything really change?

Inquiring minds want to know. Feel free to share your thoughts on everything about this election to your hopes for our new and 18 month councilmember.

How much of an impact do you feel the new councilmember will have or has the race not really begun?

I'm still unsure about the candidates running but I know I'll against anyone who has held the set before being reelected or there name sake trying to run. Ward 8 needs a leader for everyone not just someone only concerned with promising dreams (affordable housing & jobs for the unemployed) that can't happen.I want to see commercial development, as a homeowner so i can see my community strive & florish.

Having a dedicated councilmember instead of having to rely on the four at-large reps and the Chair is a difference.

Listening to the Loose Lips Ward 8 debate, I noticed that no one answered your question about how to address underwater condos with anything remotely resembling a creative policy proposal. Seems like condo owners EOTR may have to form some type of lobbying group to educate political candidates and representatives about that issue and submit draft legislation to the Council to consider introducing.

Whoever wins, they will be a one term council member. Our ward has diverse interest and needs. the persons who vote are older residents who appreciate the need to vote. The new "turks; who spout change will be gone because they say they have vision but want immediate results. Ward 8 is unique because it borders PG county. Unitl there is a joint regional effort between the two, nothing will change. stop believing that west of the river ares about Ward 8 . If that were true wouldn't we have seen change by now. Yoga spots and storefront coffee houses do not make a neighborhood. Why do Ward 8 residents have to pay 2 fares to travel downtown? And when one takes the bus to the train a 5 minute bus ride takes 15. Wake up Ward 8 we are not that different from Baltimore.
