Eternal Spring exhibition @ Anacostia Arts Center, 1231 Good Hope Rd. SE Artist Matt Hollis exhibits a new series of “petals on canvas” in Eternal Spring. These bold, graphic works are each comprised of hundreds of fake flower petals, sewn into layers on fabric and mounted on canvas. The assemblages condense the allure and sensuality of nature and represent the power that both art and organic forms have to mesmerize and attract the viewer. Learn more.

SE Confluence: Considering the Anacostia presents four views of the Anacostia river from photographers who approach their shared subject through distinct lenses. Japanese Ikebana Inspired Floral Design class @ Honfleur Gallery, 1241 Good Hope Rd. SE This class will explore Japanese inspired floral designs. Learn how to use minimal materials to create dramatic effect. There will be a short demonstration of basic designs, before students start their own projects. Materials will be provided, but each student should bring a pair of garden shears or clippers.

Pop-Up Spring Gardening Shop @ Anacostia Arts Center, 1231 Good Hope Rd. SE Annie’s Ace Hardware will be bringing the essentials you need to get your gardening on! Their experts will be on hand to offer advice for spring planting. Plus everyone will receive a small gift to start their garden.
Street Mural Jam and Pop-up Bike Repair Shop @ DHCD Parking Lot, 1800 MLK Jr. Ave. (next to Grubb’s SE Pharmacy & Mini-Mart) Bring your brushes and bicycles as local artist Chanel Compton leads participants in painting a temporary bike lane on the street, while DC-based shop Gearin’ Up Bicycles @GearinUpDC repairs participants’ bicycles.
