FOR SALE IN DC | 1 bedroom/1bathroom condo w/ parking - $40,000

Just another reminder that east of the river DC has PLENTY of below marking "For Sale" and "For Rent" housing.  West of the River has an "affordable" housing problem, east of the river DC could use more jobs, retail and amneties. EotR could also use better access to public transportation.

Today I will be posting several "for sale" properties that are under $90,000 each -- each located in Washington, D.C., just east of the Anacostia River. 

If we really want to solve the issue of affordable housing it is time to shape a more complete (and accurate) narrative.

Before you begin advertising all of these places you should be informed about them. The Condon Terrace condo is on a street that has more pot holes than buildings. I know because I have driven on that street to church. There is vacant land near this site. It is a converted apartment building. No one in there right mind would move there because the only amenity is the A2 bus. Finally, investors will buy these low price condos and then rent them out for section 8. Ward 8 needs people who are prepared to make a commitment to stay and not be transient. That is how a community develops and thrives. It will only be a matter of time until a number of west of the river families move back to VA for land less taxes and more green space for their kids. This is all cyclical. Review previous housing trends over the past 75 years.

At the above poster, your post is confusing. It seems that you don't want her to post about the low priced housing but then you talk about the type of people that Ward 8 needs. Posting the sale of these places allows people to become aware of what's available.

If a more concerned resident moves to the area things typically change.

Funny you said Va and not Virginia and Maryland, but I already know what that's about.

It's interesting when you post listings, including the higher priced ones. Would love if you did follow up posts on how much they sold for and how quickly.
