Rant or Rave: The IHOP on Alabama Ave in Congress Heights

After the overwhelming response to the Giant Foods article I decided to make the "Rant or Rave" a regular feature on the blog.  From time to time CHotR will be asking readers to weigh in on all types of things Ward 8.  If " you have a nomination for the "Rant or Rave" series please send it in to advoc8te@congressheightsontherise.com.

Today, The Advoc8te is asking readers to weigh in on the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) on Alabama Ave SE in the Shops at Park Village. The IHOP opened about two years ago to great fanfare. Everyone was very excited about having a 2nd "sit-down" restaurant in the Ward and the jobs it would generate.

How has your experience been like at the IHOP? Do you have a rant or a rave? What do you like about it? What can be improved? We want to know!

I didn't know there was an IHOP over there.

I love the IHOP!! It's right across the street, and even though the Giant is right past it, sometimes you just want some ready-made food. I mostly use the carry-out, and use the wait time to catch up on East of the River and the Informer. The fact that there's an open business there also makes the street feel safer (it's pretty quiet here anyway, so this is just a bonus).

The one small thing is that I love the sirloin tips and eggs, and after they'd been open a while, they stopped taking steak orders over the phone -- I guess folks would make the order and then not show up to pick it up, and that got costly for them. But like I said, they always have the neighborhood papers, so I just use that as catch-up time.

I've been there many times. I love it! The staff has been friendly and the food is always good. Its clean and new and I think the owners are proud people that work hard. I definately recommend it. I hope other restaurants that open use their same business model.

As much as I love IHOP and Popeyes, we still need other options here in SE.

I love it! It's close to me, making it convenient. I put the phone number in my mobile phone for those days when I'm really cutting it close making it home for dinner, so I can call ahead and order for pickup, and by the time I get out of the Metro, pick my daughter up from school and walk up the street din-din's ready! I also stop in when I have morning classes scheduled and grab coffee. Also, as someone who eats everywhere from the Capital Grille to Founding Farmers to the Palm, I have to say that the servers there are the best! You won't find friendlier service anywhere in town.
